This film is set in 1940s Nazi Germany. It´s the story of Liesel, a 13-year-old illiterate girl who is adopted by a German couple during the war. Liesel´s adoptive father is a good man and teaches her to read. The Nazis are burning books and Iesel saves one from a fire. She also steals some books from a rich German couple. But Liesel´s new family are in danger: they are hiding a Jewish man called Max in their basement...
